Lost Thing Poem
Just over a year ago I lost the brightest star in the sky.
One night I was watching my star sail across
The sky in a lazy lost at sea drift.
When I woke up my star was gone and before I knew it
An interloper was blocking my view from the only thing that
I looked forward to after every wretched day, my night goddess.
The light blue sky filled with turbulent clouds.
I waited for nightfall but my star was not there,
My precious bead of light,
The beacon I swam towards when lost at sea, was gone.
I waited night after wretched night for six months in the same place
Waiting/staring, wishing/hoping.
Heartache has set me free.
